Andreas Hakenberger
Andreas Hakenberger was an early 17th century choral composer who, despite being Catholic, spent the last 20 years of his life as Kapellmeister of the Lutheran Marienkirche in Danzig (Gdansk). He died in 1627 in his early 50s. From 1602 to 1607 Hakenberger was a singer and lutenist at Polish court of Sigismund III in Warsaw. The collections of motets by Hakenberger show an acceptance of Latin in the liturgy of the Lutheran church, and the influence of the Venetian school even in NE Germany.
