Peire. Cardenal was born c. 1180 in Le Puy-en-Velay, Haute-Loire, and died c. 1278 at Montpellier(.  In1204 a Petrus Cardinalis is listed as a clerk in the employ of Raimon VI, Count of Toulouse.  About 90 of his poems survive, only 3 with music .  He kept a Jongleur to perform his sirventes and managed to survive the Albigensian Crusade.
